The label says it is made from 100% straw––whatever that means.The Bailey material is much stiffer than the Panama hat it is meant to replace which proudly displays it is made from 100% Toquilla in the headband. That hat is flexible, easily rolled up and packed into a suitcase and more than 17 years in my possession but the crown is starting to open up. The weave of the two hats is similar but the brim of my 17 year old hat does not have a single fray, however, the Bailey already does. I don’t see how it would ever survive being rolled up and packed into a suitcase.I had the opportunity to wear my new Bailey of Hollywood to an outdoor picnic. It provided good sun protection, but due to the stiffness of the brim it had the propensity for being blown off my head by less than a strong breeze. Sitting in the shade of an awning my head began to sweat so I took the hat off to cool down. My old hat had the ability to make my head cooler on hot days and I could wear it safely to the beach with ocean breezes and gusts of wind. The Bailey hat is for a Dapper Dan more than a man looking for sun protection and comfort on hot summer days.I always get compliments when I wear this hat. This is the second one I have owned. The first one, after seven years, shrunk from continuous exposure to sun and rain, which I think is pretty good. The hat is very durable and good looking. My first one once blew off my head and was run over by a car. I popped it back into shape and other than a barely noticeable crease on one side it held it's shape perfectly. The grass material that is used is clearly durable and doesn't dry out or get brittle. I expect my new replacement to last just as long.very nice. good for playing golf.Just received my hat in two days and love it.I wear a 7 3/8 and ordered a large and it fits perfect.Its my first Panama hat and now it’s my favorite hat.This is my second Bailey of Hollywood straw hat, and I prefer my other hat. My original hat has an open weave, so I was looking for something that would provide more sun protection. The Brooks hat looks great and is very stylish, but it makes my forehead sweat a lot. It is also easily caught by the wind, probably because of the tighter weave. It's still a great hat and I plan to wear it a lot, but I'll wear my original Bailey's hat on windy/really hot days.this one takes the cake. the finish is great. the fit is great. and the look is outstanding......this is an expensive hat for me but a real treat.....it is as described in all respects and even better.My co worker loved itAwesome hat
